*** New Year 2009/10: New Shows on the listen again page.

After a long absense from the airwaves and from the web, WMRSCOTLAND is now back on line. There are many reasons for the lack of broadcasting in the last couple of years. Not least, the extended sunspot minimum which we are in, which is not particularly suitable for low powered transmissions around 6 or 7mHz. Some years back, QRP transmitters set up in remote locations were being heard reasonably well, but by the end of the last series of broadcasts in 2008, even higher power transmitters were struggling at times. The broadcast on 20th Dec 2009, as well as the New Year broadcast suffered from long skip, and was not well heard in much if the UK.

We will have some programming no doubt, at various times during 2010. This will be our 30th anniversary year. It is difficult to swallow the fact that it was 30 years ago that three young fellas set off at about 6am to find a suitable secluded woodland to attempt to set up the first WMR broadcast. I bet the woods we initially thought were OK, when we could reach up and touch the aerial, really will be suitable now!!!!
